Spectrum Wins SPS Terrain Diversity Award
Skaters For Public Skateparks out of Oregon has selected Bonsor (Metro) Skatepark in Vancouver, BC for the Public Skateparks for a Skatepark Terrain Diversity Award.

This architecturally stunning skatepark combines street, fullpipe and transition areas to accommodate skaters from beginner to advanced with a wide variety of experiences. According to SPS Regional Director Chad Balcom, Bonsor “…embodies many of the concepts that Skaters for Public Skateparks pushes for. Different styles of terrain are represented well – streetscape, transition elements (including a fullpipe), and beginner area… Designed & built by skaters, for skaters – ensuring a successful facility.” The street section has a brick hip, various gaps and banks, ledges, rails and lots of manual space. The dogleg bowl is great for beginners and intermediate skaters, and the advanced bowl area, complete with fullpipe and pool-coping, is unique and challenging.

The observation platform and sunshades add an interesting visual architectural element to this very good mixed use facility.
